Luck Toonie Show – Spandy Saves the Day!

May 31, 2009 - 10:14 am No Comments

Hey Spandex Lovers!
Today I had another great show in the sun down at English Bay. I added some new songs to the boombox and the people were really digging it. I think my new favorite at the moment is to perform to Sandstorm. I can really go with the music and its high energy.

About half way through my show a lady on the bench gave me a “magical” toonie. She told me I must keep this toonie ($2 coin) separated from the others and buy a lotto ticket with it. Unfortunately silly Spandy threw it in his backpack and then mixed it up at home by mistake. Guess I’ll just have to earn my money on the streets!
Crowd at the Bay.

I also stopped a crazy argument going on with a group of drunk freestylers. SpandyAndy using his powers to save the day!!

Can’t we all just thrust away our troubles!

Thanks for all the support again and keep smiling;

May 31, 2009 - 12:33 am No Comments

Hey Everybody!
Just thought I would fulfill on my business cards and write one of my inspiring blogs!

Today the Spandy show was AMAZING. The energy of the people was perfect and EVERYONE was joining in and just having a great time. Two guys came down and DJ’d the show for me. The boombox takes IPODs so there Iphones were PERFECT. Got to dance to some new tracks and just visit with so many people. AND!!! I made some mad flow today!!! I saw quite a few $10 bills!!!! Thanks for all the good comments and supporting ME! :-D .

It was great visiting with people after as well. They all wonder the trick to my energy hhaha. I just tell them, “I’m SpandyAndy”. Then the people that miss the show ask me, “What do you do?” My answer is, “I’m SpandyAndy.” The answer to all the questions “SPANDYANDY”.

Keep on dancing;
Spandy

Ps. An album of pics just appeared online. Thanks for the tags Mark.

Spandy Strutting at English Bay

Coin Collection

May 26, 2009 - 10:50 pm No Comments

So part of being SpandyAndy is being able to pay the bills while performing. If I can’t do that, it’s really hard to keep Spandy going all summer. I’ve really cut down on my bills. I switched my cell phone from Rogers to Koodo cause they had a special promo with a guy in spandex. Seemed like a good fit. Now I eat cans of tomato soup and corn. It’s under $2 for a decent meal.

I also created a little video blog of a day in the life of Spandy. Today I was getting coin sleeves for all the change I got over the weekend. Check it out;

Park Ranger – Nutcases

May 20, 2009 - 10:16 pm No Comments

Hey all you tight tight people out there. SpandyAndy has learned of a couple enemies he has in this world, Park Rangers and Street Peeps.

I started my Wednesday afternoon down at English Bay again since I was so successful last time. This time Spandy was thrusting up the wrong path. Park Ranger road up on his bicycle (yes Vancouver is that cool) and asked for my permit and said that the music is too loud. This really hurt Spandy where it counts. Yes, the pelvis. I just couldn’t rock the beat with low volume. My HPMs (Humps per minute) dropped dramatically and the crowd noticed. So after collecting some change and getting a phone number :D lol, I headed to the Art Gallery.

Robotic Friend

I happened to arrive at the EXACT same time as another perform and his guitar. We started taking turns, or trying. This guy was crazy, he sung Beatles and liked to spit all over the place. It just wasn’t working out. He had an argument with me since everyone was thrusting my way and then he left. This is when more crazy people came into the picture. A few of them were awesome and brought me some mini trampoline they found. This was good for jumping in the air during RISE UP. Then this one guy threatened me and told me he was going to sock me in the face. This is when it got scary. I thrusted away and everyone was upset. It is nice that every time I go out I have enough support from bystanders that I don’t have to worry. After a few more crazies danced with me I called it a day and hopped on the bus home. Oh and this one French guy told me I was his favorite part of Vancouver. :D

Anyway, SpandyAndy is going to continue to conquer the streets of Van. Even if he has arch nemesis coming at him. I ended up with a few coins. I think Spandy can make this his new job this summer. It is recession proof too! Spandex will never die :D

I’ll keep you posted on performance locations and times. Just remember stay TIGHT and BRIGHT.

Hit Up The Beach

May 17, 2009 - 8:50 pm No Comments

Hey spandex lovers!
I received the rechargeable batteries for my boombox in the mail yesterday and had them all charged up for a day of dancing on the beach today. I put on my typical spandex attire, threw the boombox on my shoulders and headed off to English Bay.

English Bay - Vancouver

Once I got there I instantly was getting the strangest looks for everyone. They kept staring (must be my thighs). I set out my hat and started rockin the pelvis. Within no time I had people laughing and stopping to check out what was going on. I ended up dance battling two cracked out characters before a third joined me in the robot. People were LOVIN the show. I started getting some coin in my hat too! After a while the nutcases ended up getting violent and I decided it was best to pack up and move down the beach. That was when the audience started chanting for me to stay and yelling at the bums to leave. Thanks for the support it was TIGHT!

Anyway, once I made a few stops and my batteries died, I ended up with 2 energy drinks, 1 ice cream and around $75 :-D . I handed out a lot of cards and ordered some more batteries. I’m also thinking of getting a sign to put by my stuff to let people know my name is SpandyAndy. The beach was a HUGE success and I will continue to spread the pelvic commitment I have for everyone!

P.S. I was just informed a made a cameo appearance on Global Vancouver today too.

Bright Update

May 8, 2009 - 3:44 am No Comments

I’ve been really active recently trying to get myself out there.
I’ve auditioned for a TV show, worked on some new promo ideas, and I’m even starting to blog more!

Last month I tried out for “So You Think You Can Dance Canada”. It was an amazing experience. I got to dance in front of the judges, meet all kinds of talented dancers, and experience what goes on behind the scenes. I can’t really tell you anything that happened during the auditions due to a contract that I had to sign limiting what I can share. I don’t want to risk ruining this opportunity so I am going to leave it at that. I will update everyone as soon as I know the airing date. It will be on CTV across Canada.

SpandyAndy's Hand Stand

I’ve also got a new promo card I am going to start handing out to people. I’m going to dance in the streets and let people know where they can find more of my TIGHT style. I really want to get the word out. If you have any ideas for me, please let me know. If you can help at all too, that would be awesome! I am setting the goal of having 750 fans on Facebook before
the show airs. :-D That would really help prove that I have a core fan base.

I’m going to be blogging as much as possible with news on how Spandy is coming along and where he is planning on thrusting next. I’m going to keep you informed and updated with new pics and videos as well!

Hope you enjoy what you’re seeing and it brings a smile to your face. I am getting really excited about Spandy. If you are NOT a fan, please visit: www.SpandyAndy.com and become one. THANKS!
