Tomorrow is Canada Day! The forecast is for sun! and Spandy is going to be out celebrating!

The fireworks start in Coal Harbor at 10:00pm. I’m thinking I should be there a few hours before they start so that I can find a good spot and perform before it gets too dark. I’ll head over there around 7:00pm. Since it is supposed to be such a beautiful day, I might start the grooving at the Art Gallery around 5:00pm and then move to Coal Harbor.

Also, tomorrow is my first birthday party performance. I’m excited to dance to Hannah Montana and work on my chicken dance. It should be a fun time!

The sun came out this weekend and I was excited to get my groove on. After Friday’s tribute to Michael at the Art Gallery, I wanted to head to the beach.

Saturday I decided to go to Kits Beach. I drove there, because it is too far to walk and paid $2.00/hr for parking. After walking around looking for the best spot to perform I set my boombox down and started dancing. People were stopping and watching for a bit, but it just wasn’t the same. Maybe I just picked the wrong spot, but it was nothing like I expected. I danced for a few songs with a couple of kids and then packed up without even bothering with my hat.

Today, was a different story! I was going to the Jazz Festival to see what I could do, but first I wanted to visit English Bay. As soon as I started walking through, there was cheering and smiles. It was amazing! I looked over at the crowd and pointed “here” and clapping broke out. Before I even finished setting up, a life guard was already on my case. I talked with the crowd and they told me, if they give me a ticket they will all dance battle the ranger. I started the show.

English Bay is where I belong. The people were awesome, big smiles everywhere, and everyone having a good time. About 5 songs into the show one of my buddies that is down there all the time told me they were writing me a ticket. I looked off into the distance and there was Mr. Ranger, with a pen in his hand and a ticket pad. I scrambled to pack up, because I can’t afford a ticket, and a few others ran over to give me some change.

I LOVE performing at English Bay and that is where the people want to see me. Please join the group, “SET SPANDY FREE Petition – Let him come back to English Bay” if you haven’t already. I really hope I can perform there again soon.

Tomorrow, Friday, June 26th I will be performing a tribute to Michael Jackson. The show will start sometime around 3:00pm at or near the Vancouver Art Gallery. (depends if there is something going on or not)

Michael Jackson’s dance moves have a big influence on me. When I was a child I remember seeing his moonwalk on TV. It inspired me to try and learn it and learn other gliding techniques. His music and moves will never be forgotten.

So, tomorrow be prepared to see a lot of moonwalking cause it’s going to be a thriller!!

Good day spandex lovers!
I spent the last few days working on the “back end” of Spandy. Teehee, back end. I’ve been sanding down the “Scoody” getting it ready for paint, meeting with people to talk about the future of Spandy, and working on my robot.

The next couple of days are supposed to be wet ones. It’s ok though, I’ve been really busy. I need to get out there soon though. I’ve got this new robot move that will crank your sprockets, if ya know what I mean.

Spandy has been trying to make a schedule and get out performing as much as he can, but the stuff seems to just keep piling up. I’m actually also having a little bit of a medical issue. (details; age 13+ only)

So, I have decided I’m totally changing up my schedule. I’ve set up an account on twitter and you can use my facebook fan page status, to notify you where I am dancing. I’m about to unveil my “Scoo-dy”. A new form of transportation that get me on the go! You won’t be able to miss me!!

After letting my Boombox dry, it works again!!

The weather is critical for SpandyAndy’s street show. Today I decided to go to Vancouver Art Gallery, because as you know, I can’t go to English Bay anymore. (post: Van Park Danger). Once I arrived everything was working out well. The weather was ok, and there were people gathering on the steps to watch.

During the show a man actually came over to the boombox to turn it down. I turned it down and it was greeted with a loud “BOOO!”. I turned it back up and switched it to the the track “What is Love!”. Then I battled him the only way SpandyAndy can, through dance. (previous battle: SpandyAndy vs. Van Park Danger)

Then the Rain came. The boombox was getting wet, so I had to stop the show. I ran for cover after collecting a little bit of change and packed up. On my walk home the weather cleared a bit. I decided to throw down the box and do a little dance, not for money, just promo. All the sudden my boombox was dead. It wouldn’t do anything. I replaced the batteries with fresh ones and still nothing.

I’m currently letting the boombox dry and hoping for the best. All in all, SpandyAndy has learnt how critical the weather is for his street business. If anyone knows of any indoor or rain protected, high traffic areas, let me know!

As many of you might be aware, one of the park rangers from English Bay has been trying his hardest to get rid of SpandyAndy. He can now be seen commenting on SpandyAndy’s Fan Page.

After performing at English Bay for 3 weeks I had only positive feedback from everyone. People were dancing with me, enjoying the music, or just having a good time. The police would walk by, and I would just solute their presence. They would even be seen cracking a few smiles. Here is an example someone filmed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q22YNbz-SmI

Now the Park Ranger, known on facebook as Van Park Danger, has decided to spend all his time and efforts getting me out of English Bay. I actually haven’t even been at English Bay for a week, my longest time since starting, and he still is deciding to wage war on my fan page.

I have decided to use my Spandy powers to once again battle my arch nemesis Van Ranger Danger. Please check out this video:
