Do Terrorists Wear Spandex?
After flying in and being asked 3 times to re-walk through security sensors at the airport, walking along the streets and people acting really pertinacious and the hotel security stopping and questioning me before being aloud to access the elevator, I’m starting to wonder whats up with our society. Do terrorists/criminals wear TIGHT/BRIGHT spandex with LED belts displaying there name?
Today is the day of the competition and even SpandyAndy is getting the butterflies. I decided to suit up and head to Yonge-Dundas Square and try a street show. People at the restaurant, the limo driver, and fans online warned me about dancing on the streets in Toronto. If the city/people are really like that, why would you want to live here?
I went out and started the show. I pulled out my best stuff. Love Inc – Super Star and Da Rude – Sandstorm. The people crowded around like CRAZY! I’m talking one of the biggest crowds I have ever had. There were people that even recognized me from the So You Think You Can Dance. (video) I wasn’t busking for money, I was just trying out the streets and handing out SpandyAndy pins.
After 3 songs the Eaton’s Centre Security was dispatched. I was already packed up and walking away, perfect timing. When I got back to the hotel, of course, security stopped me. I’m really starting to see why people think I’m fearless. It’s not that I’m fearless, I just really don’t understand why being different, or normal in my case, is such a threat. Why would I wear gold shorts without pockets to the airport if I was planning something? I bet you anything the cameras followed me from start to finish.
For the 1st time I’m really noticing something just isn’t right about this. I guess I have to remmeber there are other “Jackass” style people that probably went too far and ruined it for everyone, but I’m out to make people laugh and smile… one city at a time.
