Negative Energy
Living in Vancouver with spandex on puts me in a whole new world. Every interaction I have with other people or even dogs, is effected by my appearance. Today I was reminded of my fundamental rule; put out positive energy!
This morning I exited the bank on Robson St. after depositing my coins in an attempted to make rent and a homeless man started yelling at me. I’ve drove past him before and he yelled, “F#$%in Goof!”. I responded with a dance and smile. This time he spotted me and started calling me a “faggot”. I responded with a dance and smile. Then he came closer and started threatening me. I continued to dance & smile while keeping a safe distance. He continued coming towards me on my scooter so I blew him a kiss and drove away.
There were a couple cops on the sidewalk further up and I was thinking of letting them know about these threats, but I was running errands.
On my way home a few hours later I pulled off into an alley and the same bum was there. I honked at him and smiled. As I drove past he yelled, “Stop f#$%in following me around!!” That’s when I realized these people are really lost in their own worlds too. He actually thought I was following him around aggravating him.
It’s typical negative thoughts. When you feel powerless you think everyone is after you. If you think it, you believe it. Why not think everyone is here to help you. That is just as much a truth. In fact we are all human, if we see another human down and out we will most likely help them, especially if it is life threatening.
I just wanted to share this experience with you guys. Some of you may be feeling depressed and think the world is against you. Trust me if this guy would have smiled and laughed we would have made friends, instead I’ll make sure to keep away from him and he will continue to feel powerless.

PS. If you are reading this TODAY, July 2nd, I’ll be dancing at English Bay from 5pm -7pm throwing out as much positive vibes as I can!!

It is so true. Sounds like today you mastered the trick to not let someones elses negativity effect you, well done. I’ve been really negative today (a bit tired from last nights festivities and had to work early…..) so I really hope to make it down to catch some of your positivity. Maybe I’ll just come straight there.

Hey andy,
You’re right…. to a certain extent. A lot of the homeless people on the streets of Vancouver are mentally ill so his powerlessness would be something that’s out of his control I’m guessing. Sure he said some nasty stuff but I’m guessing he falls into this category. A smile, maybe without the dancing would be less provocative and maybe cause less aggravation. Just a thought. I am sure he probably thought you were ridiculing him and the people living on the streets are as low as they can get so maybe a different approach is needed to help them.

Thank you guys!
Jay!
I wasn’t talking about how to help a homeless person, or categorizing them. I was just talking about this experience. He actually yelled at me before I even noticed him. Then I responded to his message of, “faggot” with hello human being I like to smile. He responded with more aggression. It seems he wants to release some aggression and I was a perfect target. He was putting out negative energy and in return he was powerless because it wasn’t effecting me. I think social programs are working on the “helping” accept of it all, but we can always smile!
Keep it TIGHT & BRIGHT,

Blew him a kiss! That is beautiful and gonna get you labelled, once in a while! lol
I would love to see you apply to local schools and the VSB ( school board) to do the
rounds as a speaker/performer about bullying. Your own experiences as a youth and
what you do now as a result. It would be so inspiring AND entertaining. PAC (Parents Action Committee) have decent honorariums you know! ( money to compensate guest speakers and entertainers) Even kindergarten would be a good place to start sending the message to
“love one another and have fun!”
