Olympic Experience

The Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics is now coming to a close. Time flies when you’re having fun!

The games brought great opportunity for me and excitement in the city. I was on the streets 15 of the 17 days. I learned a lot and went for street performing GOLD! Lots of exposure and lots of support.

Now it’s time to rest my body. I’ve got some good Olympic cuts on my hands and sores all over. I’m going to pick up some extra shifts at the restaurant and think of some more TIGHT BRIGHT creative ideas for SpandyAndy.

Thank you to the City of Vancouver and everyone who joined in on the dancing.

Olympic Size Update

Hello all TIGHT & BRIGHT forms of life,
The last couple weeks have been Spand-tastic!
- danced on Robson St. for 10 days straight in the sun
- was in a bunch of different print media, blogs, and more
- had an amazing Thursday dance party with DJ CZECH

Street performing during the Olympics has been so much fun. Anyone that has been watching the news or has been downtown Vancouver knows how crazy it has been. The streets are just full of people soaking up the sun and Olympic atmosphere. For 10 days straight I would wake up, get into my spandex and head out to Robson St. Every time I would set my boombox down hundreds of curious bystanders would start gathering around. Once the dance beats started playing there curious faces would form into smiles.

The province, metro and 24H papers all talked about SpandyAndy and his TIGHT BRIGHT colors. I’ve been getting a lot of exposure during the games and my fan numbers have skyrocketed. Now at 3,368 fans and counting.

Last weeks Thursday night was a huge success. We packed the house and everyone kept telling me how great of a time they had. I learned a lot from that week and realized that I can’t keep the party going every week. I’m going to be working with the club and DJ’s on doing a dance party once a month instead. We will not be open this Thursday, Feb 25th.

Well, I have to get into my TIGHT/BRIGHT gear and meet up with Keri, TheCanadianExplorer. We are going to do a video interview together for her website.

Olympic Update

Time for an Olympic update;
– I spent 5 of the last 7 days busking on the streets of Vancouver.
– Hugo Lopez of HBoss Entertainment finished editing some awesome YouTube Videos.
– I received permission from the downtown B.I.A. to perform on certain areas of Robson St.

The crowds in Vancouver have been great. Lots of excitement in the air and people visiting the city. Tomorrow is supposed to have a sunny afternoon and I can’t wait to groove. I’m going to start in Yaletown at Helmcken & Mainland St. Depending on how things go I’ll stick around there or end up on Robson St. to finish the the day off. I rented a dance studio and Hugo came down to videotape some SpandyAndy dance moves. We were able to get through 5 or 6 moves and then we filmed some stuff on the streets. Subscribe to my YouTube Channel to see more videos!

Now that I have 2 confirmed busking permits I am ready to show the world my moves. Hope to see you smiling out there.

Excitement in the Air

Downtown Vancouver was buzzing today. The sun was out, streets were packed and the performers were loving it!

Money was tight so I picked up an extra shift at work on the worst day. It was the Saturday before the Olympics and 12 degrees above. The crowds are growing. I was able to get out of work early and try it out. One word, “Spand-freekin-tastic!”

I was told I was on CTV yesterday and today at 6:00pm I was on NBC News. The NBC one is pretty quick. (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032619/#35272434 – 42 seconds in)

Forecast is for sun all week. Time to see what these dancing shoes really can do. See you on the STREETZ,

REMINDER; Thursday Dance Party returns Feb 4th

A lot of people have been contacting me about coming out this Thursday. There will not be a dance party this Thursday, the club is doing final renovations. We will continue the groovin and mooovin on Thursday, February 4th.

Thursdays @ Century House

Last Thursday at Century House was a success. Everyone that came had a really good time and told me they haven’t experienced a club night like this before.

This Thursday Century House is finishing up the last of the renovations and will be closed. We will be launching the dance parties again starting Thursday, February 4th. The only way this night will be successful is if everyone that had a good time tells there friends and the night grows.

Thank you everyone who was apart of Thursday last week and I look forward to dancing with you again!
