The Spirit of Grouse Mountain

Now that I’m dancing up Grouse Grind I’m becoming the spirit of the mountain.
My spirit is known to give off extra bursts of energy. :-P

Everybody on the Grind has a common goal; get to the top. Yet this trail has every walk of life. From Athletes to Tourists to Students; you can even expect to be caught on camera.

Flight Booked – Return to the Red Planet

July 4, 2010 - 1:21 am 1 Comment

As most people around me know; I was born and raised in Red Deer, Alberta.
Red Deer was a great place to grow up. New schools, new centers, and lots of jobs. But Red Deer was missing something… new culture. :-P

Just before I moved from Red Deer the city decided to start a festival called, CentreFest. It is a weekend festival in August full of booths, games, and street performers!!

I was asked if I was available to make a home town appearance and now I’m excited for the experience. I’ve changed so much as a person/performer and it’s going to be fun to test it out back where it all began. :-D

CentreFest is July 31-August 1, 2010 in the heart of Red Deer. If you are from Red Deer and you are reading this, I will see you there. ;-)

I’m trading her 25000 SpandyAndy Club+ points for 25000 Aeroplan points.
Love you mom,

Negative Energy

July 2, 2010 - 4:07 pm 8 Comments

Living in Vancouver with spandex on puts me in a whole new world. Every interaction I have with other people or even dogs, is effected by my appearance. Today I was reminded of my fundamental rule; put out positive energy!

This morning I exited the bank on Robson St. after depositing my coins in an attempted to make rent and a homeless man started yelling at me. I’ve drove past him before and he yelled, “F#$%in Goof!”. I responded with a dance and smile. This time he spotted me and started calling me a “faggot”. I responded with a dance and smile. Then he came closer and started threatening me. I continued to dance & smile while keeping a safe distance. He continued coming towards me on my scooter so I blew him a kiss and drove away.

There were a couple cops on the sidewalk further up and I was thinking of letting them know about these threats, but I was running errands.

On my way home a few hours later I pulled off into an alley and the same bum was there. I honked at him and smiled. As I drove past he yelled, “Stop f#$%in following me around!!” That’s when I realized these people are really lost in their own worlds too. He actually thought I was following him around aggravating him.

It’s typical negative thoughts. When you feel powerless you think everyone is after you. If you think it, you believe it. Why not think everyone is here to help you. That is just as much a truth. In fact we are all human, if we see another human down and out we will most likely help them, especially if it is life threatening.

I just wanted to share this experience with you guys. Some of you may be feeling depressed and think the world is against you. Trust me if this guy would have smiled and laughed we would have made friends, instead I’ll make sure to keep away from him and he will continue to feel powerless.

PS. If you are reading this TODAY, July 2nd, I’ll be dancing at English Bay from 5pm -7pm throwing out as much positive vibes as I can!!

Canada Day

June 30, 2010 - 2:43 am 3 Comments

UPDATE: Planning on dancing around Van Art Gallery then Canada Place. (4pm – 8pm)
If it’s raining I’ll be on the move! Thurs, July 1st, 2:30pm.

Too bad I don’t have any red and white spandex for Canada’s birthday tomorrow. It’s okay though, we can celebrate all colors as usual. :-D

Where are you going to be dancing?
There are lots of festivities going on at Canada Place, downtown. I’m planning on dancing up Cordova St. or anywhere I find lots of people. Stick to my twitter or facebook page tomorrow for LIVE updates. :-D

Happy Birthday Canada,
SpandyAndy

Roller Derby

The Roller Derby on Saturday was TIGHT!!

All the roller girls had their own nicknames and styles. It was a sport where you could express and be proud of your individuality. It was so much fun meeting all the girls and performing during half time.

I entered the arena in my newly designed tearaway robot gear. Then while dancing to my own custom music mix, I busted out SpandyAndy. I’ll let you know if a video surfaces.
